Dr Martens AirWair
A granular rubber compound is melted into a liquid and then injected into a mould which produces a unit that incorporates the famous AirWair technology, as well as offering resistance to a number of industrial elements, such as oil and acid petrol. The honeycomb design in the top portion of the sole (below the midsole) creates shock-absorbing, cushioned air pockets. The sole is then attached to the welt by being placed against a red hot blade to create a watertight seal.

Goodyear Welt Construction
Goodyear Welted construction gets its strength, durability and repair qualities by stitching the shoe upper leather, lining leather and welt (a specially prepared piece of leather) to the ribbing that has already been bonded to the insole. The welt is then stitched to the leather or rubber sole.
